12yo child bride dies giving birth
From CNN:

AMMAN, Jordan (CNN) -- A 12-year-old Yemeni girl, who was forced into marriage, died during a painful childbirth that also killed her baby, a children's rights group said Monday.

Fawziya Ammodi struggled for three days in labor, before dying of severe bleeding at a hospital on Friday, said the Seyaj Organization for the Protection of Children.

This doesn't even shock anymore. It does make me condemn every Muslim that doesn't speak up in opposition to this practice.

"Although the cause of her death was lack of medical care, the real case was the lack of education in Yemen and the fact that child marriages keep happening," said Seyaj President Ahmed al-Qureshi.

This girl was in a hospital, but yet the cause of her death was lack of medical care?! Besides all the other atrocities leading up to this tragic event, she dies in hospital due to lack of medical care?

How, in this day and age, can the developed World allow such unhumanitarian conditions to go on - from the lack of education about birth control if having children (especially girls) is such a burden on families, to education about what is wrong with marrying off girls at such young ages in the first place, to tolerating anyone being in a hospital and dying because of lack of medical care?? Where have we gone as humanitarians? Are we even humanitarians?

Absolutely appalling. The world isn't all that 'developed' in many ways, especially where religious doctrines hold sway.

And what kind of world do we live in where anyone thinks it's acceptable to take a child as your wife? The sad part is that her "husband" probably has several other wives to take care of, and will probably replace her with a younger 8-year-old wife.
You're just jealous because the voices are talking to me and not you.
