Becky's Mum
General-Pryce
Hi guys. Been a while since I popped in. Those of you who have been here a while will know of my fiance Becky (Sometimes nicknamed Regan), and that her mother had been diagnosed with cancer.

Well, a couple of nights ago, Thursday, her mother passed away.

She was 62. She had been taken into the Marie Curie Hospice (A specialist cancer hospital) the day before. She deteriorated quite quickly and passed away on Thursday.

Me and Becky are arranging the funeral at the moment. It should be a good turn out, there is to be no black worn by orders of Lesley (Becky's mum) and afterwards instead of a wake we're having a tribute concert and party.

Her mother was quite a famous folk singer back in the 60s/ 70s and continued to release albums up until a few years ago. She will be sorely missed.

Here is a link to a couple of her songs. She was part of a band in the 60s/70s called the Bitter Withy and wrote a lot of songs as well as singing on the choruses.

General-Pryce: I'm glad to see you posting again, but very sorry to learn the reason why. My sincere condolences to you and Becky. I approve wholeheartedly the style of the funeral. I hope to have a New Orleans-style sendoff when my time comes: a party with lots of musicians.

Nice to hear from you GP, sadly for bad reason.

I would like someone to sing Parting Glass at my funeral, beyond that I cant say I much care. Whatever helps those left behind deal with it I think would be best. No priests of religious figures will speak at my funeral though, that will be mandated in my will.

Preab San ol!

Thanks guys. I will pass on your best to Becky.

Lesley will be having a non religious ceremony, probably Humanist as she was an atheist too.

Hi Alex,

To add to my earlier condolences, and message of how much I like the music of Bitter Withy, let me say that it sounds as though you and Becky are indeed planning a worthy and special tribute to Lesley. We should all have those who succeed us honor who and what we truly are, and were, as you're doing for Lesley. In my eyes, it is a continuation of showing our love for someone to care for them at their death as we did while they were alive - to the best of our ability as they would have liked us to do.

Yours and Becky's love and affection for Lesley shines on - and that is such an honor of her life.

Sorry to hear about that, mate.

I'm gladdened, though, at your selection of life-affirmation responses, though.

I should be so lucky to have such a generous person as you and yours, planning *my* demise.

I'll hoist one in your mum's honor, next time I'm at a drinking venue.
