 How to prevent rape

I was doing my usual morning websurfing through my news/political sites when I ran across a link I thought I'd share. On the topic of rape, there is much said about what the victim could have done that may have prevented being raped. This article doesn't do that, it is much more direct. A shame the more ambiguous bits (ambiguous to your average potential rapist that doesn't consider himself one) are buried in the middle of the obvious ones. I suppose the response from the "don't dress like a slut and walk around the seedy part of town late at night types" might something along the line of a similar list of prohibitions to a fire, e.g. "if a person sticks their finger in you, don't burn them!" Guess it all depends on how much legitimacy to their argument you give them. (That one being more legitimacy than it deserves, but there's something to be said for not allowing indignance override common sense.) |

Thanks for this post Skeeve. We should consider, and remember, that even though it happens less frequently, boys and men are raped too. |
