The bill now heads to President Barack Obama, who plans to sign it into law, overturning what repeal advocates believed was a discriminatory policy that unfairly ended the careers of thousands of gay members of the military over the years. Hooray, now gay people have the right to openly die in wars. This is a great step forward?

About bloody time the USA took a step into the 21st century... and caught up with the rest of the modern ethics.

I wonder if the Republican House will try to do something to reinstitute DADT next year, but it would be a losing battle if they tried.

I wouldn't be too sure. One should never make assumptions involving fair-mindedness or intelligence, especially where Congress is involved. As my cousin said, "There's Pro-gress, and then there's Con-gress."

This will sting for quite awhile. I'm curious to see how petty they can be, now that teh gay are almost citizens. |

"If you really want to have a chance of passing START, you better start over and do it in the next Congress because this lame duck has been poisoned," Graham said on CBS's "Face the Nation" on Sunday. |

Just like a petulant spoiled child, except that this idiot is playing for high stakes.

I have no great love for US politicians of any stripe. I will admit a certain fondness for Ron Paul for his ideological purity (most of which I disagree with on a very fundamental level) and his common sense on foreign relations. But, the pettiness of the current republican party is scary. The fact that the american public have not condemned them for it is even more scary. Why don't people care that those who represent them are not presenting logical and considered reasons for their actions but resorting to petty and irrational explanations for their actions. I could understand, if not agree with, arguments against START along the lines that we would put our defense at risk. An argument against START that is basically they shoved repeal of DADT down our throats so we will resist START is not rational on any level. How can anyone accept this. The whole thing is particularly weird since the military and the public were so much in favor of repeal of DADT that the republican party had to go along. It had nothing to do with the opposition party. |

We won't get rid of our nuclear weapons unless the gays are cast out of the military? How is that not extortion, and irrational idiocy? |
