Unleashing Republican Insanity

I feel like one of those cartoon characters that has steam coming from its ears, except the knot in the pit of my stomach cancels any kind of humor I may get from that image.

On federal funding for planned parenthood:

WASHINGTON -- House Republicans voted on Friday to strip federal funding from Planned Parenthood, cutting money for contraceptives, HIV tests, cancer screenings and reproductive health services as part of an attempt to weaken the abortion provider. Planned Parenthood does not currently spend federal money on abortion services.

The vote, which passed, 240 to 185, came after an emotional, late-night speech by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.), who revealed on the House floor that she had had an abortion. Speier criticized Republicans for vilifying Planned Parenthood and abortion-rights supporters.

On net neutrality:

A hotly contested Democratic bid to enshrine extensive Net neutrality regulations in the law books failed Wednesday in the U.S. House of Representatives.

By a 34-22 vote, members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee rejected a Democratic-backed Net neutrality amendment that also enjoyed support from Internet and software companies including Microsoft, Amazon.com and Google.

"I'm concerned about e-mails being blocked from advocacy groups, of all sides," said Jan Schakowsky, an Illinois Democrat who supported the amendment. "I'm concerned about start-ups that may be shut down."

While efforts to rewrite telecommunications laws often languish in obscurity, advocacy groups and corporations have raised public alarms about the section of the 34-page bill pertaining to Net neutrality (also called network neutrality).

Have you ever cried and vomited at the same time? I think I need to now.

Yes, I really hate that. Thanks for the e-mail. Rest assured that I signed. Planned Parenthood is one of my favorite orgs.

Symbolic gestures by the house majority are simply that, symbolic. They will neither pass the senate nor need to be vetoed.

I point a harder finger to the rest of us. We The People, allow these buffoons to be elected, it is our shame not theirs.

Yes, but it worries me for what may happen after 2012.

Republicans are putting on a show for their rabid base. As John suggested, these measures won't realistically pass the senate. The problem for Republicans is that they can't afford to lose their hot button issues by actually resolving them.

Oh, on-target!

You notice, IwannabeKINGdammitBush never did do anything to stop abortions, even though he claimed he was a'gin' it....

.... nor did BushyTheLessor do a single thing to balance the budget, even though he made many a speech saying he wanted smaller government...

.... nor did Bushy do a single thing about Teh Gays... he even permitted Clinton's lame "don't ask, don't tell" to remain in effect, even though he could have taken steps to usurp it, and get those "dam gays outta there", had he been motivated to do that.

It's mostly talk, with these idiots. Couple that with Fox Lies channel, and you keep their base all stirred up (over nothing) and ignorant.

It's what they do...
